THE OBJECT
Oud Saphir by Atelier Cologne is a dark leather-woody fragrance that contrasts bright citrus and spice with suede, smoky birch and oud.
Calabrian bergamot, pink pepper and ambrette seed create a fresh, slightly musky opening. Suede, violet leaf and Egyptian jasmine bring texture through the heart before oud, Bourbon vanilla and Chinese birchwood form a darker, smoky base.
Created by perfumer Jérôme Epinette and released in 2015, Oud Saphir approaches oud through polished leather rather than overwhelming density. The brightness of bergamot and pepper keeps the composition lifted while suede, birch and vanilla soften its darker woody character.
Oud Saphir belongs to Atelier Cologne's La Collection Rare and is presented here in a 30 ml Parfum format.
